Ananias Clotten

Ananias Clotten , also called Ananias von Clotten (* around 1630 in Klotten , † June 20, 1699 in Trier ) was a German Capuchin , novice master and writer .

Life

Ananias was a son of Johann von Clotten (1570-1634) and brother of Hubert von Clotten (1619-1639). His entry into the Capuchin Order took place on January 12, 1658. On September 1, 1674 he was novice master in Trier . Here he wrote a prayer book to which Father Alexander von Lieser, Provincial Secretary, gave his license to practice medicine. In the Rhenish Province of the Capuchins he achieved almost all offices and from 1693 to 1696 he was their Provincial . One of his works is the oldest known Capuchin ceremonial in the Rhineland province. The commission for the work Epitome sacrorum Rituum seu breve Cæremoniale Romanæ justa Rotum sunatore Romanae Ecclesiæ , which was printed in 1684, he had fromFather Martin von Cochem received. One copy each is now in the Cologne City Library and one in the Darmstadt University and State Library .
