The Världskulturmuseerna , the National Museums of World Culture in Sweden, was formed in 1999 by amalgamating four previously independent museums. These are the Etnografiska Museet , the Medelhavsmuseet and the Östasiatiska Museet in Stockholm and the Världskulturmuseet in Gothenburg .

Collections

The collections of the Världskulturmuseerna include more than 460,000 objects and around a million film and image documents. There is also a collection of audio documents. The library with more than 200,000 entries spread across the four sub-museums.

The collections of objects are almost completely recorded in the online database. The digitized photos, archive materials and inventory books can also be accessed here. The Världskultumuseerna make data on their collections available at various locations.
