Vélocipèdraisiavaporianna
With Vélocipèdraisiavaporianna , also called "steam-driven velocipede," a drawing by an unknown artist from Paris called from the year 1818th
In 1817 Karl von Drais presented his balance bike to the public. With this drawing utopia or caricature , a contemporary artist processed the development of the newly published "Drasine" with the already known steam engine. The original colored drawing shows a two-wheeled velocipede with a large boiler. Three stokers follow the driver to start the fire. This “fire fantasy” was 50 years ahead of technical reality; the first steam wheel was built in 1869. The drawing is now in the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu .
