Vít Kárník
Vít Kárník (born October 5, 1926 , † 1994 ) was a Czech geophysicist and seismologist.
Together with Sergei Medwedew and Wilhelm Sponheuer, he developed the Medwedew-Sponheuer-Kárník scale (abbreviation MSK scale) for measuring the intensity of earthquakes and formulated today's surface wave magnitude scale .
