V-disc
Under V-Disc , an abbreviation for "Victory Disc" (German: " Records for victory"), was understood and shortly after World War II record of the US armed forces who popular light music (such as pop , dance music, swing by Gene Krupa , Artie Shaw , Fats Waller , Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller ) as well as recordings of classical works and were sent to the GIs from home as " knapsack editions" for moral strengthening.
V-Discs were the only permitted recordings and productions with instrumental musicians during the union “ recording ban ” (August 1942 to November 1944) in the USA.
