VDI / VDE Society for Measurement and Automation Technology

The VDI / VDE-Society Measurement and Automation Technology ( GMA ) is a professional society of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and the Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE) . Around 13,000 personal members of the VDI and VDE are professionally assigned to the GMA.

The technical work is carried out by around 1000 volunteer employees of the GMA in the following eight departments:

  • FB1 Fundamentals and methods of measurement and automation technology
  • FB2 process measurement technology and structure analysis
  • FB3 production metrology
  • FB4 Mechatronics, Robotics and Actuators
  • FB5 Industrial Information Technology
  • FB6 engineering and operation of automated systems
  • FB7 fields of application of automation
  • FB8 Optical Technologies.

About 80 technical committees are subordinate to the departments.

The specialist organ of the GMA is the magazine atp - Automatisierungstechnische Praxis .
