VDI 4663

The guideline VDI 4663 "Evaluation of energy and material efficiency - methodical application of the physical optimum" describes the entire improvement process of energy conversion, distribution and use in the form of a guide. The status of generally recognized rules of technology is assigned to the guidelines of the VDI . " The physical optimum (PhO)"Defined as the ideal reference process. The advantage is the comparison of the real process with the PhO. This rules out the need to determine a new reference point at a later point in time when the state of the art has advanced. Using suitable tools for Evaluation and improvement of processes can be determined using the key figures.

The guideline is published by the VDI Society for Energy and Environment.

Structure of the guideline

The guideline presents methods for a systematic approach in the analysis and evaluation of the energy efficiency of processes. In addition, suitable tools are presented to assess the improvement and to be able to determine further measures.

Current

A draft of the guideline has been available since April 2019. The objection procedure was limited to December 31, 2019.
