VDI 4700

The VDI 4700 is a guideline of the Society for Construction and Building Technology of the Association of German Engineers eV The guideline is written exclusively in German and contains recognized terms from the areas of architecture, construction technology, technical building equipment and facility management. The terms are sorted alphabetically and written according to the internationally valid rules for terminology.

The introduction to sheet 1 of the guideline begins with a quote from Confucius : “If the terms are incorrect, the words will not come into being. If the words are wrong, the works do not materialize. ”In line with this quote, the purpose of the document is set out. One of the objectives of the guideline is to provide all specialists who deal with the development of technical rules with identical names for the respective trade in order to achieve a uniform statement.
