VDRL test

The VDRL test ( Venereal Disease Research Laboratory ) is a test for the syphilis pathogen Treponema pallidum . The test responds to the pathogen 5 - 6 weeks after infection.

The VDRL test responds to antilipoidal antibodies . However, it is a non-specific test that can also show a positive result in the case of collagenoses , pregnancy , liver diseases and others. It is mainly used to control therapy.
