VIP shopping

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

VIP shopping describes a widespread marketing instrument in the retail sector , with which special customer groups are granted special price advantages or other unusual, exclusive purchasing conditions.

VIP shopping is predominantly understood to mean special events to which not everyone is authorized, but only a previously defined group of customers who have either been specifically invited or are one of the company's customer card holders . These are, for example, let into the shops in the evening hours after normal business hours. In addition to the possibility of shopping, often combined with special discounts, fashion shows or other entertainment programs are offered, and in some cases catering also takes place.

Legal

Despite the fact that the business premises are not open to everyone, such sales events are subject to the right to close shops and are therefore not permitted outside of the statutory shop opening hours . After the Federal Shop Closing Act was repealed and the shop closing regulations of the individual federal states largely no longer provide for restrictions on shop opening on working days (Monday to Saturday), such sales events are permitted in the evenings after 8:00 p.m. Only in Bavaria, where the old federal shop closing law still applies, as well as according to the Saarland shop opening law, VIP shopping after 8 p.m. is not permitted (for further details on the working day shop opening times, see shop opening hours ).

Events of this kind are generally not permitted on Sundays if the respective state shop closing law does not permit shops to open on a Sunday (see VG Stuttgart, judgment of October 27, 2009 - 4 K 3177/09 and LG Nürnberg-Fürth, judgment from June 25, 2012 - 1 HK 0 1231/12).
