Roberto Gómez Junco (born March 12, 1956 in Monterrey , Nuevo León ) is a retired Mexican football player who played in midfield . Today he works as a sports commentator.
Life
society
Gómez began his professional career at the capital club Atlético Español , for which he made his debut in the Mexican Primera División in a home game played on May 9, 1976 against Club León (3-1), in which he was in the 75th minute for Saúl Rivero was substituted on.
He scored his first goal in the top Mexican league exactly five months later on October 9, 1976 at his “hometown club” Tigres de la UANL , where he scored the 2-0 final score for the guests in the 73. Minute succeeded.
After the end of the same season (1976/77) he moved to the Tigres, where he was under contract for the next three years and with whom he won the first championship title in their history in the 1977/78 season. When Gómez left the Tigres in the summer of 1980, he moved to their arch-rival CF Monterrey , with whom he was under contract until 1982. In his hometown he also experienced his most accurate season (1981/82), in which he scored seven goals.
In 1982 he moved to Mexico's most popular club, Chivas Guadalajara , with which he was runner-up twice in a row (1982/83 and 1983/84).
He was then two years with Deportivo Toluca FC and most recently again with the Tigres de la UANL, in whose ranks he ended his active career in 1988.
National team
For his only use for the Mexican national team , he came in the February 28, 1980 friendly match against South Korea, which was lost 0-1.
