The VKU Verkehrsunfall und Fahrzeugtechnik is a German trade journal. It is aimed at accident analysts, motor vehicle experts, insurance companies and lawyers. Cases from practice are explained using current examples. In addition, technical worksheets on vehicles as well as reports on safety-relevant vehicle technology and contributions to basic research in connection with traffic accidents and damage to vehicles are published. In addition to current reports, it also includes industry events and news from the European Association for Accident Research and Accident Analysis. It is published monthly by the publishing house Springer Automotive Media , part of the specialist publishing group Springer Science + Business Media .

history

The magazine was initially called Information, was later renamed Der Verkehrsunfall and ultimately VKU - Verkehrsunfall und Fahrzeugtechnik , in order to take account of the increasing number of articles on the latter topic. The trade magazine was published by INFORMATION Ambs for forty years from 1963, Ambs being the publisher's last name. In the middle of 2004 the sheet was sold to the Vieweg publishing house, where it appeared in a slightly different format. Vieweg then carried the logo with the stylized abbreviation VKU, which has meanwhile become established as a short name. VKU has been integrated into Springer Automotive Media Verlag since 2010 and got its own online presence in the course of 2011.
