VSM (racing car)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

VSM , built by Victor van den Brempt together with his sons Stanislas and Maurice, was a Belgian racing car from the 1950s.

The Belgian Victor van den Brempt was one of the pioneers of monoposto construction of the Junior racing formula and Formula 3 at the beginning of the 1950s. His first car, the Dofin , was a two-seater whose base was the tubular frame of a used Fiat Formula Junior car. The vehicle was powered by a Fiat 500 engine, and parts of a DKW front-wheel drive were also used. This chunky vehicle was unsuccessful.

Van den Brempt was not deterred and built another racing car, the VSM - named after the initials of van den Brempt and his sons Stanislas and Maurice. It was again a two-seater with a Fiat engine and a DKW power transmission. Van den Brempt designed a special ladder frame for this vehicle. The Belgian actually wanted to drive endurance races, but the car was ultimately converted for Formula 3. With the resulting single-seater van den Brempt competed in national and international Formula 3 races for some time. But when there was no success with this car either, the small team disappeared from the racing slopes.
