Joan Lorring

Joan Lorring (born April 17, 1926 in Hong Kong , † May 30, 2014 in Sleepy Hollow , New York ; born Madeline Ellis ) was an American actress .

Life

After the outbreak of World War II , Ellis moved with her mother to San Francisco, California in 1939 and initially found a job with the radio. She made her screen debut in 1944 in Song of Russia with Robert Taylor in the lead role, in the same year she also directed The Bridge of San Luis Rey . The film studio changed its name to Joan Lorring. In 1946, Lorring was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as a young mother in Das Grüne Korn , who extorted a university . In Hier erte Scotland Yard and Drei Fremde (both 1946) she stood in front of the camera with Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre . In the 1950s, Lorring was then increasingly seen in television roles, including the US television series Valiant Lady and Norby . In the late 1970s she took on a small role in the soap opera Ryan's Hope .

Joan Lorring was married and had two children.
