Sleepy Hollow is a village in Westchester County , New York , USA and as such has a high degree of local government .

Formerly called North Tarrytown , it was publicly renamed Sleepy Hollow in 1997 . In the is Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow , by Washington Irving story The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow) and based on this feature film by Tim Burton has been known. Next to the church is the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery , where Irving was buried. At the 2010 census , the village had 9,870 inhabitants. As a village, it belongs to the city of Mount Pleasant .

A large proportion of Sleepy Hollow's population is from Ecuador or the Dominican Republic , while the rest of the population is predominantly of European descent .
