Life

Vadim Vitalievich Gushchin graduated from the Moscow Energy Institute . He has been a freelance artist since 1988 and since 1991 has participated in more than 50 group exhibitions in various galleries and museums in Russia and abroad. His first solo exhibition took place in 1995. His works belong to the collections of international museums. In his photographic still lifes, he makes use of the imagery of Suprematism and Constructivism , thereby referring to the cultural Russian heritage and underlining his national identity.

“Vadim Gushchin's works show constantly changing, everyday objects, which the artist adds to stagings à la Malevich and then photographs. The artist succeeds in removing a product from an alienated production process and giving the object an individual value and a personal relationship with the viewer. "

- Christoph Tannert, curator, Berlin.

“[...] the artist gives the things a new secret in his photo staging, which is perhaps their old one, he points to something hidden in their banal objectivity, perhaps to a fairy tale context. The staging is paradoxical because, on the one hand, the spirit of the object is set free in his photographic analysis of the forms and, on the other hand, he says goodbye to them by making fairy tale coffins from frozen moments for them in his photographs. "

- Dr. Elmar Zorn, Munich.
