history

In 1969 the company Vakarų laivų remonto įmonė (VLRĮ) was founded. In 1998 it was privatized and sold to the Norwegian group of companies Western Invest under the name Vakarų laivų remontas . In 2000 there were 1,600 employees. However, the investors were unable to meet their financial obligations. In 2001 the company changed hands to the Estonian group BLRT Grupp and in 2003 it was renamed to Vakarų laivų gamykla .
