The term Vale Tudo means “everything counts”. It comes from Portuguese and describes one of the forerunners of modern mixed martial arts (MMA). More modern terms or sports resulting from them are " Free Fight ", " No Holds Barred Fighting ", " Mixed Fight " or "Mixed Martial Arts".

The term originally referred to a series of martial arts events in Brazil in the early 20th century. Vale Tudo is a sporty full contact fight in which, compared to modern mixed martial arts z. For example, head butts and full elbow use are allowed and the fights are decided by the fighters alone. No gloves were worn and there were no scoring or laps. There was also no set of rules such as B. the unified rules of MMA sports.
