Valentiner (patrician family)

Valentiner is the name of a family that has its origins in Flensburg , where it was formed as a patronymic in the 16th century . The family produced numerous academics and politicians. Many family members allied with members of other patrician families .

Emergence

The family name originated when Willem (1558–1607), a son of Valentin Pauls (1531–1593), merchant and councilor in Flensburg, and Elsabe Willems Wynbarch (1527–1606), after his father's first name with the surname “ Valentiner “Called. His siblings Ingeborg (1559–1616), Paul (1560–1625) and Anneke (1565–1643), however, called themselves " Valentinsen ", which corresponded to the Nordic tradition.
