Denver valet parking

Valet parking [va'le: paʁkn̩] is a service where the parking is taken from customers' cars for a fee. Colloquially, the term parking service or valet parking is also used .

Valet parking is mainly offered by hotels and restaurants or at airports. In North America, where valet parking is particularly widespread as an alternative to self parking , the service can also be used at other facilities (such as hospitals and golf clubs).

Description of services

The customer brings the vehicle to the handover point (also known as the valet zone ) and hands over the vehicle key to the service provider or valet ( English or originally French “servant”). It is customary that the customer pays a small tip. In return, the service provider gives the customer a parking ticket and then parks the vehicle.

If the customer later wants to leave the facility, the vehicle will be driven up again upon request and the vehicle key will be returned. Even then, paying a small tip is common.

Occasionally, in addition to valet parking, other services are offered that can be performed at the vehicle while the customer is absent. This includes, for example, washing or servicing the customer's vehicle.
