Valley Fire

The Valley Fire was a forest fire in California , the near on 12 September 2015 Cobb in Lake County , California, erupted. In the course of the fire, large parts of the villages of Cobb, Middletown and Whispering Pines as well as parts of Hidden Valley Lake were destroyed. A drought that had lasted since 2011 and strong winds had favored the rapid spread of the fire to 40,000 acres (around 162 km 2 ) within the first twelve hours.

According to official information, the fire was completely extinguished on October 6, 2015. With more than 1,900 buildings destroyed, the fire is one of the three most devastating forest fires in California history. In the meantime, around 19,000 people have been affected by evacuation measures. Four people were killed and four firefighters injured in the fire.
