Variant sound

Variant sound or variant for short is a relational term from music theory that describes the relationship between two chords . The relationship between two variant sounds is that they have the same keynote , but the opposite key gender . So is z. For example, the C minor - triad of Variant sound of C major -Dreiklangs and vice versa.

The same relationship also applies to keys . See variant key

The variant relationship should not be confused with the parallel relationship between two chords or keys, such as between C major and A minor.
