C minor is a key of the musical scale Moll on said root constituting c. The key of C minor is in the notation with three ♭ written (b, it, as). The corresponding scale and the basic chord of this key (the tonic C-Eb-G) are also referred to by the term C minor.
On the left the accidentals of C minor, on the right the basic chord on a piano.
Well-known works in C minor are, for example, Johann Sebastian Bach's Passacaglia for organ or Ludwig van Beethoven's 5th Symphony . To assess this key as fateful and tragic, see key character .
C minor is often used in heavy metal and style variations thereof. The reason for this is the tuning of the guitars in Dropped C (CGcfa-d '). The low C-string is played openly, muted and put together in rhythmic sequences to create motifs.
