B-Dur is a key of the musical scale Dur . It builds on the keynote b. The Key B-Dur is in the notation with two ♭ written (b, es). The corresponding scale and the basic chord of this key (the tonic bdf) are also denoted by the term B major.
Use in brass and military music
For many brass instruments , this key is the simplest, because many of them have a Bb as their root note and its natural tone series coincides with the B flat major scale over long distances. This is why this key is often used in brass music literature. Many national anthems are written in this key. In the New Länder , musicians' trains use flutes without flutes in Bb ("drum pipes"). Additional instruments such as the glockenspiel (lyre form) are also used in minstrel trains in B-tuning.
