Ges-Dur is a key of the musical scale major based on the fundamental building sat. The key of G-Dur is in the notation with six ♭ written (b, it, as, the, ges, ces). The corresponding scale and the basic chord of this key (the tonic G flat-flat-flat) are referred to by the term G flat major.
Works in G major are mostly found in the piano literature, in orchestral works the said key is rarely found, here the tonally identical key of F sharp major is often used. Of particular note from the piano in G flat major, the Impromptu in G flat major op. 90/3 of Franz Schubert facilitate legibility to G major convenience that (beginning with the first printed edition) in older editions, however hochtransponiert was.
