A minor is a key of the musical scale minor based on the root note a building. The Key A minor is in the notation without sign posted. The corresponding scale and the basic chord of this key (the tonic ace) are also denoted by the word A minor.
On the left the notation of A minor (no accidentals), on the right the basic chord on a piano.
As a parallel key to C major and due to the lack of accidentals, this key is very frequently used in all epochs. It is often described as bright-sounding, gentle, noble (see key character ). “Pious femininity” was also sometimes associated. A minor was Robert Schumann's favorite key and plays a key role in his works.
On the piano, A minor is the only minor key that can get by with white keys. This is why piano courses often start in A minor (or the parallel key of C major). In early techno music , A minor was the most common key for this very reason.
