Varma (official name: Keskinäinen työeläkevakuutusyhtiö Varma , international: Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company ) is the largest Finnish pension fund , ahead of its competitor Ilmarinen . It was founded in 1998 and is based in the capital Helsinki. Varma has an investment portfolio valued at around 45 billion euros (first half of 2017), making it Finland's largest investor. Risto Murto has been President and CEO since 2014. Varma has grown rapidly in recent years by taking over several pension insurances that have been outsourced by large institutions or companies.
