The Borlezza is a 25 kilometer long tributary of Lake Iseo in the Italian province of Bergamo in northeast Lombardy . It flows through the Val Borlezza and passes through the municipal areas of Castione della Presolana , Onore , Songavazzo , Fino del Monte , Rovetta , Cerete , Sovere , Pianico , Lovere and Castro .

course

The Borlezza is created at about 1060  m slm by the confluence of two source streams on the southwest slope of Monte Lantana above Castione della Presolana. The left and shorter source stream rises on the western slope of Monte Pora and crosses the Valle di Pora , the right source stream rises on the north slope of Monte Pora and flows through the Valle Vareno .

After the source streams have merged, it initially flows, sometimes still called Gera , to the northwest through the heavily wooded and narrow Valle di Pora . Approximately at the level of the village of Castione, which lies on a plain above the river, the valley name changes to Valle di Tede . Here it turns to the southwest and at the same time takes in the Campello and the water of the Valle dei Mulini from the right . It passes through the village and takes Onore here from left to the Monte Cornet resulting Righenzolo on.

This is followed by the villages of Fino del Monte, Rovetta, Songavazzo and the fraction of San Lorenzo di Rovetta of the municipality of Rovetta, before turning to the southeast. In this section the river is also called Valeggia . It now passes Cerete Basso and takes in the water from the Valle Faccanoni from the right and that from the Valle di Covale from the left . He reaches the fraction of Piazza and immediately afterwards the village of Sovere, after which he forms a small, wooded gorge, which he passes in several arcs. It flows past Pianico and the Sellere (Sovere) fraction .

Shortly after Pianico, the Oneto , which rises from Lake Gaiano, flows from the right . Immediately after its confluence, the river is bridged by Strada Statale 42 . The Borlezza turns immediately afterwards to the south and flows into the west bank of the upper Lake Iseo at Castro at 185  m slm .
