Sovere is an Italian city with 5305 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy .

Location and dates

Sovere is located about 43 km east of Bergamo in the Val Borlezza valley on both sides of the Borlezza river . The neighboring municipalities are Bossico , Cerete , Endine Gaiano , Gandino , Lovere , Pianico and Solto Collina . The districts are Piazza, Possimo, San Gregorio and Sellere.

history

The origins of the city go back to Roman times. All coins from this period have been found in the area. The first documentary mention of the war comes from the year 837.

Attractions

Malga Lunga Museum

There are several beautiful palaces in the city, notably the 17th century Venturi Palace and the 16th century Zitti Palace. Inside the Palazzo Baroni you can see frescoes and stucco. The Palazzo Longhini has a beautiful courtyard.

The Malga Lunga museum is located near Sovere . The museum is famous for a battle in World War II. Today it is a museum of the resistance.
