Rota d'Imagna is an Italian city with 920 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy .

Location and dates

Rota d'Imagna is located about 26 km northwest of Bergamo in the Imagna Valley . The neighboring municipalities are Brumano , Corna Imagna , Locatello and Sant'Omobono Terme .

history

Bronze Age graves have been found on the territory of the municipality. The finds are exhibited in the Bergamo Museum. Rota d'Imagna was first mentioned in a document in 1151. In 1927 the municipalities of Rota Dentro and Rota Fuori merged to form the new municipality of Rota d'Imagna.

Attractions

Rota d'Imagna is the tourist center of the Imagna Valley. From there, visitors can start hikes and tours on mountain bikes. Worth seeing are z. B .:

  • the parish church of Rota Dentro from 1496. The church has a granite portal. Inside there are paintings by Carlo Ceresa , among others
  • the parish church of Rota Fuori from 1470. In this church there are paintings by Carlo Ceresa and Il Morazzone .
