Peia is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1777 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy . The place is east of the Val Gandino and a little off the Val Seriana . The place is about 25 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital Bergamo . The name of the place is said to come from the Latin pila or pilia . The municipality has a wild boar boar in its coat of arms.
