history

Originally, the place where Valle Imagna is today was only used for summer camps. From the year 1300 people used the square as a settlement for the first time all year round. Since the community faces northeast, it gets freezing in winter. When the Republic of Venice conquered the province of Bergamo in 1428, Costa Valle Imagna stood on the border of the warring regional powers Venice and Milan.

During the Counter-Reformation, a bishop expressed his regret over the state of the village church, which had been neglected due to the poverty in the community. A plague pit points to the 1630 epidemic described by Alessandro Manzoni.

Costa Valle Imagna has been a summer resort since the beginning of the 20th century.
