The chapel of the Madonna del Frassino dates from the 17th century. It was built thanks to an alleged apparition of the Madonna. According to legend, the Madonna appeared to a hiker and came to his aid when he was captured by bandits. Shortly after his release, a small chapel was built, which was gradually expanded into a church. The original name was Santuario Beata Vergine del Prato del Forno . The church was later called Santuario del Frassino before it was given its current name.
