Pontirolo Nuovo is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 5026 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy . The municipality is crossed by the Strada Statale 525. The municipality is located about 16 kilometers southwest of Bergamo and about 45 kilometers east of Milan .

The name comes from Pons Aureoli ("[new] bridge of the Aureolus").
