Cazzano Sant'Andrea is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy with 1645 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). Since February 1, 1960, Cazzano has been an independent municipality. It was previously part of the neighboring municipality of Casnigo.
etymology
The first part of the name goes back to the noble family Cazzani, whose members appeared in Cazzano as feudal lords. The second part names the patron saint Andrew, to whom the parish church is consecrated.
geography
Cazzano Sant'Andrea is located 20 km northeast of the provincial capital Bergamo and 70 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan.
The neighboring communities are Casnigo , Cene , Gandino and Leffe .
All members of the municipal council belong to the Lega Nord .
Attractions
The medieval defense tower , which is also depicted in the coat of arms, is a historical landmark of the municipality. The adjacent building, which was built around 1200 as a small fortress, now functions as the town hall.

The right side shows the above mentioned defense tower on a blue background. Twelve horizontal block stripes - alternating in blue and gold - form the background of the left side. It depicts a dancing gypsy woman with a green skirt and red bodice, who, according to legend, is said to have had a passionate relationship with a local nobleman.
