Chiuduno is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy with 6116 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

Chiuduno is located 15 km southeast of the provincial capital Bergamo and 60 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Bolgare , Carobbio degli Angeli , Grumello del Monte and Telgate .

history

The settlement was of Gallic origin when it was founded. The Romans later used the place as a post on the important trade route between Bergamo and Brescia and gave it the name Claudunum. The community was first mentioned as such in an official document in 795.
