Piazzatorre is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 394 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 35 kilometers north of Bergamo and about 70 kilometers northeast of Milan . The Torcole ski area is located here .

The community was mentioned in a document in 1185 and was already called Plazatorro as a square with a tower . Today the place lives primarily from ski tourism.
