Urgnano is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9925 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 12 kilometers south of the provincial capital Bergamo on Strada Statale 591. A few kilometers east of the core town, the Serio flows .

history

The municipality was already settled in the time of the Roman Republic, which is proven by grave finds. The place Urgnano is mentioned in a document in 985 . The Castello Visconteo was built here in the 14th century . Also worth highlighting is the Cagnola Campanile from the 18th century.
