Trescore Balneario is a municipality ( comune ) in the province of Bergamo , Lombardy region , in northern Italy .
history
The city was first mentioned in a document in 996.
The area was already known for the baths in Roman antiquity , the warm springs were expanded by Bartolomeo Colleoni and are still in use today. Balneario stands for baths in the Italian language .
Attractions
- The Torre Suardi (Suardi Tower) has been preserved from the 13th century .
- The neoclassical cathedral contains paintings by the Venetian artists Antonio Balestra and Sebastiano Ricci .
- Villa Suardi on the Tonale State Road has frescoes by Lorenzo Lotto from 1524 depicting the stories of Saint Barbara and Saint Brigida.
- Also nearby is Villa Terzi , a notable example of 18th century property in northern Italy.
