Levate is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy with 3748 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Levate is 8 km southwest of the provincial capital Bergamo and 40 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Comun Nuovo , Dalmine , Osio Sopra , Osio Sotto , Stezzano , Verdellino and Verdello .

Attractions

  • The parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo was built in 1583 and expanded several times in the following centuries. The steeple dates from 1741. The church contains several valuable works of art.
  • The Santuario della Madonna del Bailino was brought to its present size in 1774. It is said to have been built for the first time around 1500. Inside there is a statue of the Madonna from the 15th century and an organ from 1827.
