Fontanella is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 4726 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo , Lombardy region .

The agricultural place is located at an altitude of 105 m above sea level on a plain between the rivers Oglio and Serio . It covers an area of ​​17 km² and has a population density of 212 inhabitants / km².

The name Fontanella is derived from the many natural springs ( Fontana in Italian ) in the vicinity of the place.
