Gazzaniga ( Gagieniga in Lombard) is an Italian commune in the province of Bergamo in the Lombardy region with 5006 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Gazzaniga is located 15 km northeast of the provincial capital Bergamo and 60 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan.
The neighboring municipalities are Albino , Aviatico , Cene , Cornalba , Costa Serina , Fiorano al Serio and Vertova .
history
Traces of human life in the area around Gazzaniga can be traced back to the Bronze Age . A parish is first mentioned in 476, when the barbarian ruler Odoacer conquered it. In 1397, the place was destroyed by the Ghibellines , before the Guelphs ransacked the village just a year later . Later Gazzaniga belonged to the Republic of Venice .
