Giuseppe Guerini (born February 14, 1970 in Gazzaniga , Italy ) is a former Italian cyclist .

The mountaineer Guerini became a professional cyclist in 1993. His career began with the Navigare team ; from 1995 to 1998 he drove for the Polti team . From 1999 until the end of his career, he worked for Team Telekom (later Team Columbia ). Guerini was nicknamed "Turbo Beppe" because he lived near a turbine power station in his youth.

Guerini's qualities were mainly in the mountains, which is why he proved to be an important helper of Jan Ullrich at the Tour de France . At the Tour de France 1999 , shortly before the finish in L'Alpe d'Huez , he collided with a spectator who was taking photos. Despite his subsequent fall, he managed to win this “royal stage” , which started in Sestrières , with its difficult mountain finish in L'Alpe d'Huez. It wasn't until six years later, at the Tour de France 2005 , that he managed to win another stage on the 19th stage . With an attack about a kilometer from the finish, Guerini was able to distance his competition and thus celebrate one of the most important successes of his career. On August 21, 2007 Giuseppe Guerini announced his retirement from cycling at the end of the year.
