Colzate is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy with 1648 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

Colzate is located 20 km northeast of the provincial capital Bergamo and 70 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan.

The neighboring communities are Casnigo , Gorno , Oneta and Vertova . The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana Valle Seriana .

Attractions

  • The pilgrimage church (Santuario) San Patrizio is located above the village. The oldest part goes back to the 14th century; Extensions followed from the 15th to the 18th century. Inside there are numerous frescoes and paintings. Restorations were carried out in 1986 and 1999. The feast of St. Patricius on March 17th is one of the most important events.
  • The village church, consecrated to San Maurizio , probably dates from 1001, but is baroque in its current form. The patronage festival is celebrated on September 22nd. As the copatron of the place, St. Sebastian also plays a role in the local folk culture.
