Calcinate is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy with 6082 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

The neighboring municipalities are Bagnatica , Bolgare , Cavernago , Costa di Mezzate , Ghisalba , Mornico al Serio , Palosco and Seriate .

history

The origins of the place are Gallic and Roman. Calcinate is first mentioned in a document in 1148. In the 15th century, the small town was conquered by the then independent Republic of Venice, to which it belonged until 1797. During this time, a flourishing agriculture developed in Calcinate.
