Capizzone is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 1210 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Bergamo , Lombardy region .

geography

Capizzone is twelve km northwest of the provincial capital Bergamo and 45 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan .

The neighboring municipalities are Bedulita , Berbenno , Val Brembilla , Roncola , Strozza and Ubiale Clanezzo .

Attractions

  • In the historic center there is a bell tower that dates from the twelfth century. Initially it was built for defense purposes, later it was incorporated into a church complex and then destroyed at the end of the Middle Ages.
  • The parish church of San Lorenzo. The facade is in the neo-Gothic style. Inside are paintings by local artists.
  • The church of Santa Maria Elisabetta, located in the Mortesina district, is also very interesting. The church was built in the 12th century and has recently been renovated. In the 17th century it was used to bury the plague dead.
