Carobbio degli Angeli is a municipality in the province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy with 4823 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Carobbio degli Angeli is located 13 km southeast of the provincial capital Bergamo and 60 km northeast of the metropolis of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Bolgare , Chiuduno , Gandosso , Gorlago , Grumello del Monte and Trescore Balneario .

history

Carobbio degli Angeli has Roman origins. From the 14th century, the place had its own castle for defense. The community later became part of the Venetian Republic . The place has existed in its current form since 1928 through the merger of Carobbio and Santo Stefano degli Angeli.

Attractions

• The trademark of the municipality is the Castello degli Angeli (Castel Sant'Angelo) . The castle is visible far into the surrounding plains. Over the centuries, the building has suffered greatly from its defensive character.

• Another noteworthy building is the Villa Riccardi , which was formerly used by the Bishops of Bergamo for their holidays due to its location in the middle of the countryside.

• The 18th century parish church of Carobbio is dedicated to San Pancrazio. It contains works of art by the local artist Francesco Zucco.
