Attractions

Church of SS. Cornelio e Cipriano

In the Middle Ages, the place was a trading center on the connection from Lombardy to Valtellina . The church in the district of Cornello dei Tasso dates from the fourteenth century, is dedicated to Saints Cornelius and Cyprian and contains frescoes and a Romanesque church tower. The Palazzo Tasso served as a lookout point due to its high location. Here was the ancestral seat of the noble Tasso family, which can be traced back to the 13th century; a sideline are the Thurn and Taxis . Since various branches of the family have run postal services, the museum is also dedicated to postal history. One room in the museum is dedicated to the poet Torquato Tasso , about whom JW Goethe wrote a play . The medieval Borgo can only be reached on foot. The access road ends in a parking lot about 200 m in front of the gate.

The parish church in the main town of Camerata, built in the seventeenth century, is also frequently mentioned and is dedicated to the Holy Mother Mary. There are also paintings by Francesco Zucco in the church.

The district of Cornello dei Tasso is a member of the association "I borghi pui belli d'Italia" (The most beautiful villages in Italy).
