Franco Cuter

Franco Cuter OFMCap (born July 28, 1940 in Gazzaniga ; † September 28, 2019 in Varese ) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Grajaú in Brazil .

Life

Franco Cuter joined in 1957 the Congregation of the Capuchins in Lovere in the Province of Bergamo in. After completing his theological training at the Pontifical Antonianum in Rome and studying philosophy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan , he was ordained a priest on March 26, 1966 . In 1982 he went to Brazil as a missionary.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Grajaú on January 21, 1998. He was ordained episcopate on March 19 of the same year by the Archbishop of São Luís do Maranhão , Paulo Eduardo Andrade Ponte ; Co- consecrators were Xavier Gilles de Maupeou d'Ableiges , Bishop of Viana , and Servílio Conti IMC , Prelate Emeritus of Roraima .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 7, 2016.
