Servílio Conti

Servílio Conti IMC (born October 19, 1916 in Vertova , Italy ; † September 14, 2014 in São Paulo ) was the prelate of Roraima .

Life

Servílio Conti joined the Order of Consolata Missionaries in the Motherhouse in Turin on October 10, 1933 . After training at the seminars in Favria , Varallo and Certosa di Pesio , he entered the novitiate in Rosignano Monferrato in 1939 . He studied philosophy at the religious seminary of the Consolata missionaries in Cuneo and made perpetual profession on October 2, 1943 . From 1940 to 1944 he studied theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum urbaniano "De Propaganda Fide" in Rome and received on 8 April 1944 in Rome , the ordination , while the militant struggles of the Allies and the German Wehrmacht at the gates of Rome.

He was a professor in various theological disciplines at the seminary of the Consolata missionaries in Certosa di Pesio. In 1950 he moved to the Santa Teresinha do Menino Jesus seminary in São Manuel (SP), Brazil, and was professor of moral theology, canon law and patrology. From 1959 to 1963 he was novice master in São Manuel, pastor of Erexim (RS) and Boa Vista (RR). He was also vicar general in the Archdiocese of Santa Maria (RS).

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 1, 1965 the prelate of Roraima and on February 8, 1968 titular bishop of Thuburbo Maius . The Bishop of Bergamo , Archbishop Clemente Gaddi , donated him episcopal ordination on May 5th of the same year ; Co-consecrators were Aristide Pirovano PIME , Superior General of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions and João Gazza SX , Superior General of the Xaverian Missionaries . His episcopal motto was I am your servant . He was a participant in the Second Vatican Council and Council Father in the fourth session from September 14 to December 8, 1965.

On May 3, 1975, Pope Paul VI. his resignation. He also worked at the pilgrimage site of Our Lady of Aparecida in São Manuel (SP).

He has published numerous writings, including his autobiography O Santo Do Dia .
